motherdaughter

Two voices – a mother’s (Generation X) and daughter’s (Generation Z) – the founders of Knicolez Voices In Print - are the ones that will be heard the loudest by way of our line of t-shirts and novelty products.

meet the founders

Teresa is an accomplished attorney who through hard work and God’s favor rose from a life of want in one of the oldest towns chartered by African Americans in the U.S. to a life of plenty after graduating from one of the top ten law schools in the country.  A natural born writer, she has frequently valued the common sense that she gained from those closest to her with little formal education over the book sense that she has gained from those with the most formal education.  On any given day, you could find Teresa at the Governor’s Mansion for brunch in the morning and trying to play peacemaker before the law has to be called at a pig pickin’ hosted by family and friends that evening!

Brenna Knicole (BFA, Fashion SCAD) is the CEO of Designs By Knicolez, Inc. and KoncreteKlay, LLC, a proud NC A&T State University alumna and a very passionate HBCU supporter in general (even though her parents attended PWIs) who grew up very differently from her mother.  Nevertheless, the same values and principles were instilled in her as the ones that were instilled in Teresa by her mother.  A Sho’Nuff fashionista, a Devastating Diva, bad as well as boujee with a big heart, would be a good way to describe Brenna Knicole!

When Brenna Knicole was a child, Teresa had a habit of writing to her and it intensified when she left for college.  All of those notes and letters will stay with her forever and when she reads them, she will still be able to hear her mother’s voice.  Brenna Knicole has also penned notes and letters to Teresa that she has kept as prized possessions and reads over and over again when she wants to hear her daughter’s voice without speaking to her.

With this brand and our products, we aim to normalize writing again. Writing notes. Writing letters.  Writing your inner most thoughts.   Providing/Leaving something tangible of yourself to your loved ones – your voice in print.

Our t-shirts are packaged in reusable dust bags (a nod to the fashionista in us) for customers to store cards and letters received from loved ones—and to serve as a reminder of how important it is to write from the heart, in your own words.

Our brand’s measure of success is rooted in our duty to help others. We prioritize supporting educational efforts in the areas of self, health, and wealth in communities nationwide.
